Birdhouse Model

This is a birdhouse that I made out of foam core, basswood sticks and paper. I started with multiple ideas and designs for a birdhouse. I thought through each design and how hard it would be to create a model for each one. I chose the church design because I thought it was an interesting design and it would be more simple to build than some of the other designs. after choosing the design, I created a sketch with proportions and a plan for construction. Next, I cut out the pieces I needed and glued them onto the base to create the skeleton of the structure. At this point, I struggled with what to do next. I decided to divert from my original design and create shingles to cover the skeleton instead of keeping the areas open. I again diverted from the original design to add more elements to the base of the birdhouse. This project taught me a lot about how a design can change from concept to final execution.
